American Sports Cars by Franck PELTIER

General knowledge

American sports cars

A sports car is a motor vehicle generally equipped with a powerful engine, a chassis and a braking system performance. The majority of these vehicles are two-seater. Performance is privileged, sometimes to the detriment of comfort. While some sports cars are intended for motor racing, they remain marketed for driving on the road. Franck Peltier was kind enough to review them.

History of the automotive industry in America

It was in America at the beginning of the 20th century that the automobile industry took off with the introduction of the assembly line system. After Ford making the Ford T the world’s best-selling car at the time, and General Motors, several major American car brands were born in the 1920s-1930s: Chrysler, Pontiac, Plymouth. Over the years, these American car brands will focus to give birth to the Big Three and make the United States the world’s largest car producer.
On the verge of bankruptcy in 2009 following the sub-prime economic crisis, the US automotive sector will restructure strongly to avoid the disappearance. With its potential for direct and indirect jobs, it is considered the backbone of US industry and a strategic issue.
